On this page you can post your experiences of your favourite camping and caravanning products, as well as any problems you may have encountered.

I'll start off with our experience of the Gelert SS Quick Pitch festival tent we bought for Lisa on 20th May 2008.

We put the tent up in our back garden that day, it had not rained for weeks and the ground and air were dry.  Lisa left her sleeping bag and a solar light in, but did not sleep in there, only spending about an hour playing in there.

The next morning the sleeping bag and light were soaking wet, the floor was 'swimming', despite there once again being no rain overnight.   The walls were dry.

I emailed Gelert that day, 21st May, to explain about the problem.   Below is the reply I received from them on 1st July.    (Sorry about their spelling mistakes!)     Jan

Hi

As the quick pitch is a SS, ss stands for single skin, with this item
unfortunately it does get wet inside because of the condensation, this
collects in the inside of the tent, as the tent is fully water proof
this does not mean it is very breathable which will unfortunately not
allow the water out, which will collect on the bottom of the tent as
there is not enough vents in the tent, the only way to overcome this
problem is to upgrade the double skin version of the tent however this
is a bit more pricey but makes up for this as it does not have the
problem of the single skin, I do apologies for your discomfort
