Bank Holiday Disaster Averted!!!
A great big thank you to members of
Liverpool and SW Lancashire DA (LSWLDA)who helped myself and
my husband avert a disastrous end to a lovely bank holiday
weekend at their meet in the grounds of Oteley House at
Ellesmere Shropshire.
We had just moved our motorvan from
its pitch to firm ground in preparation for picking up our
levelling ramps and track mats ( the ground was a little
damp in places!! ) when we found we had a puncture in a rear
tyre – not what we expected for a 2 yr old ‘van. It was at
this point that our “friendly” club came into its own. Our
meet steward immediately summoned help in the form of extra
hands, jacks, blocks, mats etc. and the spare was fitted in
no time even though we had to consult hand book and manual
for jacking points and spare removal. No easy job for an
experienced mechanic let alone my husband who has had
Parkinsons for seven years.
We were able to return home safely
after a most enjoyable Bank holiday meet where LSWLDA made
us most welcome.
On arrival they suggested where to
pitch to avoid soft ground and the best route to walk to
town to watch the carnival. On Sunday we were all invited to
a coffee morning and then a guided tour, by DA Chairman Les,
of the normally private gardens and grounds of Oteley house.
Les had many anecdotes and tales of the house and estate, as
he said he had been coming for xx years although his wife
said he was only yy years old, we enjoyed them all.
A great weekend whose conclusion
only served to emphasise once again why we have been members
of this superb club for 31 years.
