This is the page where our members can include their own comments, photos, recipes, jokes or anything of interest, this should be sent to our email address lswlda@aol.com. We received the following email from John O'Brien after his visit to NFOL this summer.
We went to the
NFOL this year at Blenheim Palace and joined in everything - as usual.
We entered the We didn't win that but we did win the light up competition for under 18's. Thomas and Ryan had brought all their Dr Who objects and had a display called 'Thomas and Ryan's Doctor Who Exhibition. This won first prize, a great achievement for the kids and the DA!!!!!! We also took part in the Pennon Parade, there were 8 of us altogether, Lin and Ralph, their brother and sister-in-law, (sorry, I can't remember their names), Pat, myself, Thomas and Ryan. It was a great weekend, the weather was good and there was lots of entertainment. We are looking forward to next year in Scotland!!!!!!!!
Regards,
John

The following is a very interesting email we received from one of our members
I could have headed this "a
cautionary tale" whatever, here is a little story that many older DA
members will associate with.
The CAMPING AND CARAVANNING CLUB
has been in existence since 1901, it's rules and regulations were
written in a more sombre time, when pleasures were few, and when
taken, enjoyed and appreciated. A time of less selfishness when
thinking of your neighbours comfort was of as much importance as
thinking of ones own. When being a team player, or part of a large
group was viewed with reverence.
Liverpool and South West Lancashire DA was
originally formed in 1921, and through it's various guises and name
and boundary changes has evolved into
the DA as we know it now. Still with
me? It gets better, promise.
A DA is the sum part of each
individual member, in effect "a team" and as with every team it has
it's ups and downs (yes even the reds of Anfield and Old Trafford!).
At times the team is soaring, every thing goes well spirits soar,
along comes a down time when life within the team doesn't seem so
rosy.
Every so often, groups of people
come along to challenge the rightful order of things, why the 11
o'clock rule? Why 20ft rule? Why have rules? Can you see my analogy
now? Here comes the parable.
A group of individuals entered into
DA life, challenging the rules, not giving a fig about neighbours
with loud noise after 11pm, closing in with friends to the exclusion
of others. After a while the senior members of the DA let it be
known that this behaviour was not welcome, and so the boisterous
ones left the DA and set up their own independent camping club of
like minded people who made their own rules, or chose not to make
any rules but to just be noisy and rowdy all the time.
After a while some members of this
breakaway group grew tired of the rowdy behaviour of their new group
members, who without proper rules just got noisier and noisier until
they were not welcome to camp anywhere.
The members left and for a while
camped here there and everywhere. Then one day, totally unexpected
some of these people met up with members of the DA,who welcomed them
back into DA life as though they had never been away.
A bit like the prodigal son eh?
Well folks, I've been a member of the C+CC for nearly 30 years now,
I've camped with every single DA and section within the North West
Region, and mot in neighbouring regions. I've seen this very
scenario unfold in every DA within this great club of ours, and
what's more I've been one of the rowdy lot.
So if there is a parallel with this story within the DA, it's up
to senior members or the collective
to restore the status quo.
